Figuring gambling out, together.
Beyond the Bet is peer support: people who've been where you are, meeting regularly to talk honestly about gambling and life after it. No clinic, no clipboard, no cost.
Pick whichever feels right. Switch whenever you like.
The group
A regular online conversation with a small group of people figuring the same stuff out. Some are cutting back, some have stopped, some are still deciding. Everyone's welcome.
- Meets weekly by video call (details sent when you sign up)
- Cameras optional, nicknames welcome
- Talk, or just listen. Both count
- What's said in the group stays in the group
1-on-1 sessions
A private conversation with a peer who's been there, by video or phone, at a time that works for you. Good if a group feels like a lot right now, or you'd rather start quietly.
- Scheduled around you
- Completely confidential
- Also open to family members and partners
- As many or as few sessions as you need
Who it's for
Anyone who wants to think out loud about gambling. That includes people who:
- Aren't sure if it's "bad enough" to talk to someone (it is, if you're wondering)
- Want to cut back but keep ending up right back where they started
- Have stopped and are finding it wobblier than expected
- Are dealing with the money side and don't know where to begin
- Just want to hear from people who've been through it
- Love someone who bets and need their own place to talk
What it's not
- Not therapy. We're peers, not clinicians. If you'd benefit from professional treatment, we'll happily say so and help you find it.
- Not a program. No steps, no sponsors, no required reading. Just conversation.
- Not a lecture. Nobody will tell you to quit. Nobody will tell you not to. You decide what you're working toward.
- Not an emergency service. If you need someone right now, the 24/7 lines at the bottom of this page are the place to go.
What happens after you sign up
We say hi back
You'll hear from a real person within a couple of days, with the group details or a few times for a 1-on-1.
You show up however you want
Nickname, camera off, mic off for the first few times. All fine. Lots of people just listen at first.
It becomes a habit (a good one)
Most people find that having a regular place to say the quiet part out loud changes how the rest of the week goes.
Ground rules
- What's shared here stays here
- No judgment, no labels, no "you should"
- Advice only when someone asks for it
- Slipped up this week? Come anyway. That's the whole point
- Be kind. That's it, that's the list
